CHAPTER 1 - 9 TOP TIPS TO PLAN YOUR DESTINATION WEDDING
1- CHOOSE A DESTINATION THAT MEANS SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO YOU
We are only more than aware that the choice of potential destination is pretty much infinite. Just try to be a bit practical when you choose it. Remember, everything is possible, sometimes keeping it simple gets you the best result! Here an example of a lovely couple that chose their perfect destination after a holiday they had in Florence, Tuscany. They could not have had a better and happier day: Keely & Ben’s destination wedding in Florence, Villa le Piazzole, Tuscany.
2- SEND OUT INVITATION CARDS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Timing is key to the success of every wedding and this is even more true when it comes to destination weddings. Most photographers now include in their packages a pre wedding photoshoot, that's just the perfect occasion to get some amazing invitation cards!
Remember, be practical and don't leave details like sorting out accommodations for your guests as a last minute thing. You need advance planning, this will save you money and stress!
4- VISIT THE VENUE BEFOREHAND
It's essential you visit the venue before your actual wedding day. If you don't have the time (or budget) to do so, just make sure you fly out a few days before the wedding, this will give you enough time for a quick location overview.
5- CHOOSE YOUR PERFECT CEREMONY
The huge advantage of a destination wedding is that you can customise it as much as you like! Do you want to get married outdoor, maybe on some beautiful hills in central Italy? Would you rather get married in a church? You are free to do whatever suits you best!
6- HIRE A PRO
Yes, hire a pro. A wedding planner is always the best choice you can make to be sure everything is going to run smoothly.
7- VET THE VENDORS
When it comes to vendors it is really important to keep an open mind. You will surely find someone that you will like, but probably it will not be exactly like the top florist of your hometown, or the hairstylist you always go to. Never compromise on the photographer though, after all your wedding memories are something that you will treasure for a lifetime! Read more on how to choose the perfect wedding photographer.
8- THINK ABOUT A CLEVER DESTINATION WEDDING DRESS
Don't make the mistake of wearing a 2 thousand layers dress on a Summer day in Florence! And make sure you are equipped for a Winter wedding!
9- PLAN YOUR HONEYMOON IN THE SAME COUNTRY OF YOUR DESTINATION
You are already in the country you most love so why not taking advantage of this and save time and money?
