Destination Wedding at the Tuscany Venue Castello il Palagio
Mel&Eugene's Tuscan wedding in the Chianti region

Getting married in a gorgeous wedding venue in Tuscany, right in the heart of the Chianti region. Mel & Eugene's destination wedding at Castello il Palagio
We had the absolute pleasure to meet Mel & Eugene last November when they came to Florence for their pre-wedding photoshoot. They live in London and they wanted to let all their guests know about their destination wedding in Tuscany with some images of them in Florence. We were of course more than happy to help with this!

For their destination wedding in Tuscany, they decided to get married at Castello il Palagio. Castello il Palagio is a stunning wedding venue in Tuscany, right in the heart of the Chianti region. This region is very well-known all around the world and it has always been the top pick of all the wedding destinations in Italy. It shouldn't come as a surprise, its endless fields of vineyards and olive oil trees are one of the most appreciated landscapes worldwide.
If you want to know more about getting married in the Chianti region, you can check out the album of another gorgeous wedding we shot in this area. Shannon and Adam's wedding was held at L'Antica Fattoria di Paterno, another wonderful wedding venue surrounded by golden fields, vineyards and olive oil trees:
So, back to Mel & Eugene's story: Covid decided to jeopardise their day and add a bit of extra spark to it! Seeing how things were going to turn out for June weddings, they decided to postpone theirs in September. As in most cases, things were just fine, as they had the happiest day nevertheless.
They chose to have an outdoor, symbolic ceremony on the beautiful gardens of the Tuscan castle. Surrounded by secular trees, their ceremony was set in the most gorgeous place overlooking the surrounding fields.
But, as we know, things don't always go as we planned and their day was blessed with rain. This did not make them lose their stunning smiles, they simply went with the flow and rocked on!
Instead of having an outdoor reception in the castle inner court, they had to go for their plan B option. Quite frankly, it didn't feel as a plan B at all. Claudia and her team managed to create a beautiful cosy atmosphere that was in perfect line with the concept of the day: having a natural, relaxed and fun wedding!
Fun thing about the day: our hearts were already set on having to go for indoor couple pictures. This is something we always try to avoid, even on a very bad weather day we constantly monitor any last minute changes and we always aim for a few shots outdoors with the couple. Mel & Eugene' ceremony lasted more than what we envisioned (having to move everyone inside took a bit of extra time). When the ceremony was over, the sun was already setting and the rain did not look like it was going to stop any soon!
Then it happened: we heard Benni's shriek of joy, she ran inside saying 'There is a wonderful sun setting creating the most amazing light, we need to go in the field!' So off we went, with Mel and Eugene that were two rockstars under the pouring rain, but with one of the most amazing lights we've seen this year.
Our favourite bit? Definitely the ceremony. Mel and Eugene sang throughout the entire ceremony with their guests, it was really heartfelt and moving.
Well, we can now leave you to the images that will give you a much better idea of the day!
