We are extremely happy to post on our blog Melissa and Matt's elopement pictures, they are proof that getting married in such unprecedented circumstances is still possible. What's more, they are proof that having the day of your dreams while Covid is around, is absolutely an option!
As we always like reminding ourselves, let's learn to value experience over stuff!
When we first were contacted by Melissa and Matt, they were in the early stages of the planning of their destination wedding in Tuscany. They were due to get married in May 2020 in Italy, but that simply did not happen. When they realised that their plans were not going to go ahead, they decided that nothing, especially not Covid, was going to ruin their union. They then started to secretly think about eloping somewhere home in the UK so they chose for their wedding Bamburgh Beach and Bamburgh Castle Northumberland, a place that has always been dear to them and in which they treasure some of their happiest memories.
When they told us about their plans, we were just so happy and relieved for them, finally they were going to have the special day that they had been planning for so long, even if it was going to look slightly different, that didn't mean a thing!
They were getting married and that was a good enough reason to be happy!
We set up a call to come up together with a schedule of the day. This is something that we always do with all our couples especially when it comes to elopements. Even if it might seem that elopements do not need that much of a planning, they actually do! Coming up with a schedule on your elopement daywill allow you to get the most out of it! And your photographer is surely the one person that can help you with it, they can give you advice on the best lighting conditions, they have a much better and clearer idea of how the day is going to unfold, they have suggestions and tips forged in years of experience and so much more! So, always remember to ask for help!
So, back to Melissa and Matt's story: given that they postponed the wedding in October, we knew that we had to be wary of the light conditions. Their ceremony was scheduled in the afternoon and that was not going to give us enough time to get some proper pictures of the couple together on Bamburgh Beach before sunset. We then suggested having a first look.
MELISSA & MATT'S FIRST LOOK ON THEIR ELOPEMENT ON BAMBURGH BEACH
Bamburgh Beach was simply going to be the perfect first look location for an elopement, and we were just so glad to see how happy they both were about this idea! They were on board straight away!
Having the first look on Bamburgh Beach created such an intimate and special moment. It gave us enough time to document Melissa and Matt's joy and happiness for their union. And, as a special plus, they took with them their loving puppy Ozzy, who definitely added some true sparkle to their day!
INTIMATE AND TOUCHING CEREMONY AT BAMBURGH CASTLE
Even though at the beginning they were going to surprise everyone with their elopement, eventually Melissa and Matt decided to come clear and tell everything about their plans to their closest family, who shared with them such a wonderful day.
They then had the most touching and heart-felt ceremony at Bamburgh Castle, such a evocative and beautiful wedding venue in the UK.

Eloping is not a plan B. Eloping is your occasion to have a memorable, unique and different day even in such tricky and uncertain times. No one will ever erase those sheer smiles on Melissa & Matt's faces, no one could ever say that these are series B memories, they are hell of SERIES A memories and we just cannot wait to document more of these real and pure days.
Thank you for making us part of it and add some light in a - at times - rather gloomy year!
