We have always been big fans of micro weddings and although the new Covid-19 restrictions are everything but ideal, we have learnt to look at the bright side of every situation, even when things get 'tricky', to say the least.

What is a micro wedding?

As in most things in the (huge) wedding world, there is not a precise formula that defines what a micro wedding is. Let's say that in general, a micro wedding is something that stands between an elopement and a traditional wedding. It's a small celebration, typically with 15/30 guests, that keeps all the elements of a traditional wedding, just on a smaller scale.

I think the most important thing we should state straight away is that the fact that you are planning a micro wedding doesn't take anything away from your day, it will not be less special or less meaningful, in fact, it will be even more so as the intimacy you can create by having a small guest list is incomparable.

Let's have a look at our top 5 reasons why one should opt for a micro wedding:

1. Location

The nature of a micro wedding allows you to go wild with the location you choose! The fact that you will have a smaller guest count will allow you to be much more agile and choose a location that is not necessarily the typical wedding location.

You love mountains? You fell in love with Tuscany and its countryside? You have a secret little beach that holds a special place in your heart? Well, with micro weddings, anything can be the perfect location, so start thinking about what would be your special place and start planning your day!

2. Organization

Let's be honest, no one is a huge fan of stressful planning schedules! Unless you do it for a living, planning a wedding as a bride-to-be is not necessarily the most pleasant thing to do. Don't get us wrong, planning your own wedding is an enjoyable, wonderful experience, but sometimes it comes with that little extra stress that we had not really anticipated.

We are not saying that micro weddings are stress free, but they definitely entail a different degree of planning, which, for example, for us is an extra plus!!

3. Pleasing someone else-free

One thing we can say for sure though, is that micro weddings are definitely pleasing someone else--free. You can design the wedding exactly as you envisioned, without having to compromise on someone else's ideas and visions.

4. Eco-friendly

This should definitely be the number one reason why a micro wedding is an option you should really consider and that should make you look at it not as a plan B but instead as a HELL YES-PLAN A.

Weddings can be very wasteful, there is often too much food that goes to waste, lot's of non-reusable props, lots of guests travelling, often abroad.. With micro weddings, the extras that typically go to waste will be very (very) much reduced.

5. Intimacy and personal touches

With micro weddings, the intimacy you can create with few guests will be second to none. But on top of that, it will be much easier to create personal touches as the scale will be much smaller. You can even think about personalising the day and the experience for each guest differently, the options are really endless and the good thing is, you won't have to think about huge numbers!

Also, since you will save a lot on many things, like for example, food, you can decide to splurge on something that is really important for you, like photography and videography. You will also be able to maybe afford some more wild and out of the box decorations and flower installation and really create something true, different, unique and YOURS.
