6 EASY HACKS TO TRAVEL MORE SUSTAINABLY

Being a travelling wedding photographer is surely one of the most exciting aspects of our job: exploring new places and learning about new cultures while also doing what we love, is a huge privilege.

But of course travelling comes at a cost and, although it is one of the best ways to learn to be more inclusive, less judgmental and to learn to overcome prejudices, it also has a big impact on the environment. This is something we have always carefully thought about, how do we promote sustainability while also travelling so much for work? While we are very aware that we are far from being zero waste and that our journey to live in a more sustainable way has only just begun, it is also true that there are very simple little things we can put in place to reduce unnecessary waste to a minimum while travelling. So, on top of offsetting our travel emissions by donating to OneTreePlanted, here are 6 easy hacks we put in place to try to reduce as much as possible our waste while we travel for weddings:

1 - REUSABLE BOTTLES

Reusable Bottles, always: most airports now have drinkable water taps for an easy refill, it has zero impact on the environment and it is FAR cheaper. Our bottle is also our best companion at weddings and really, on every occasion in our everyday life. We now have come into the habit of never going anywhere without it!

2 - REUSABLE COLLAPSIBLE COFEE/TEA CUPS

Reusable Collapsible Coffee/Tea cups: we personally decided to get the collapsible ones as they are so much easier to pack down. This is again one of those items that will really come in handy in your everyday life. Just like plastic single use water bottles, take away coffee/tea cups have a huge impact on the environment. Not only are they hard to recycle, but of course being single use cups make them also super impactful when it comes to their heavy production. So especially if one is a heavy coffee/tea drinker, opting for one of these cups will surely be a very important choice!

3 - BEE WRAPS

We usually pack our sandwiches in bee wraps and take them from home to avoid buying pre-wrapped cling film ones.

4 - REUSABLE CUTLERY AND STRAWSET

Solid Soap and Shampoo are also amazing for packing dowm very small and light! Plus, you can get very handy tins to keep your bars nice and neat.

There are of course so many other things that can be put in place to reduce waste while travelling, but these are our top picks! MEMORABLE MENTION of course are reusable bags, or even better, no bags at all!
