In order to continue our series on the blog about destination weddings in Italy, we decided to share our experience as wedding photographers based in Florence and write a list of wedding venues in Tuscany that we love. From our personal experience with our couples, we know that finding the right wedding venue in Tuscany while living so far away (especially now that Covid made everything even more exciting, right?!) could feel a bit overwhelming, the choices are endless and pretty much all the venues in Tuscany look as gorgeous!
Keep in mind that after you have set your heart on Tuscany, the next thing on the list of your wedding planning journey, should be to set a budget. Setting a budget while planning a wedding is one of the most important things you can do. It will guide you through your choice for your wedding suppliers, avoiding disappointments and pointless stress afterwards.
Here below you will find a comprehensive article about the costs of a wedding in Italy, with a section about the average costs of a wedding venue in Italy and about the cost of the catering, so you can have a better understanding of the average budget to allocate.
Always keep in mind though, that these figures depend on many different factors. The amazing thing about getting married in Italy, is that you can have a grand luxury wedding, as well as an elopement or an intimate celebration on a budget but that will not feel - not for a minute - as a lesser choice!
Below you can find a list of planning resources to have the Italian wedding of your dreams, no matter how big or small your budget might be.

We can all agree that there is no place like Tuscany to plan a destination wedding in Italy, the outstanding beauty of this region and its glorious countryside is second to none. Tuscany also offers a variety of small wedding venues, ideal for intimate weddings, of which we are huge fans. Last but surely not least, Tuscany has endless options when it comes to food and wine, which are, as we all know, exceptional. So let’s have a look at our list of our 10 favourite wedding venues in Tuscany:

Another wonderful villa in Tuscany, nested in the winemaking region of Chianti Classico, the dream place for any wine lover. Villa Catignano is set in a very strategic place, convenient for all the most famous (and beautiful) Tuscan destinations like Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra and more!
Aerial view of Volterra.
As we were mentioning in our article “All you need to know about the costs of a wedding in Italy”, Tuscany is a very convenient region for an Italian wedding. It has two International airports, Galileo Galilei International Airport in Pisa and Amerigo Vespucci Airport, also known as Peretola, in Florence. Villa Catignano is close to both of them.
This Tuscan villa offers a pool (from May to October) in which their guests can enjoy the stunning surrounding views and really have a relaxing experience. The outdoor spaces are simply magnificent and perfect for any rustic-chic, outdoor wedding reception.
A quick extra note on Villa Catignano: if you are looking for a more informal, yet superb environment, you can also consider its farm house, La Fattoria di Catignano. For more information about this wedding venue, just visit their website.

Borgo Santo Pietro is a five-star boutique hotel in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, very close to Siena, one of our favourite cities in Tuscany!
Also, Borgo Santo Pietro is only a 6 mins drive from San Galgano Abbey, a charming and frankly unique roofless abbey, the perfect location for a wedding ceremony. If you want to know more about the gorgeous San Galgano Abbey in Chiusdino, have a look at this album on our blog: Weddings at San Galgano.

Each of the boutique hotel’s 20 rooms has been singularly designed down to the most thoughtful detail. Are you a food lover? One aspect we just LOVE about this wedding venue in Tuscany, is its farm which provides locally sourced and top quality ingredients to the two (yes two!!) Michelin-starred restaurants, Meo Modo and La Bottega del Buon Caffè, as well as Trattoria Sull’Albero. Farmers make cheese and yoghurt with the Borgo’s sheep milk. At the farm there are also free-range chickens, honey bees, alpacas and extensive vineyards.
Borgo Santo Pietro is surely one of the most beautiful Tuscan wedding venues, a must see!

Since we are based in Florence, we thought it was only right to give you also an option closer to the city. Villa Cora is not simply “close to” Florence, it is in its heart. Situated only a stone's throw away from Piazzale Michelangelo, Villa Cora is the perfect option if you are looking to live an experience in a luxury, historic Florentine villa. Its proximity to the city centre also, will give you the possibility to enjoy the city even on your wedding day. If you instead want to stay outside the centre, you can always have wonderful photo options in the surrounding locations, like (as we mentioned), Piazzale Michelangelo, from where you can see the whole city, San Miniato al Monte or Il Giardino delle rose.

Back to the Tuscan countryside, Villa Podernovo is an 18th century Tuscany holiday villa near Siena. This villa in Tuscany is an ideal venue for intimate and rural-chic wedding celebrations close to the Abbey of San Galgano, Chiusdino.
As we were mentioning before, the area is rich in history with worldwide famous sights and attractions that are unique to the region, like the roofless abbey of San Galgano and the Chapel of Montesiepi with its famous 'Sword in the Stone'.
You can decide to rent the villa and it can host up to 18 people, definitely a good choice if you want to spend a few days in a Tuscan villa with closest friends and family before your wedding day. It offers a beautiful pool and surely a plus side of this location is that it is not fully isolated. You will have the nice good feeling of being far from a busy city, but all the amenities can be found in the village just a few minutes walk from the villa.

Borgo Stomennano is one of the finest and most authentic borghi in Tuscany, located only 15/20 minutes away from Siena and immersed in a relaxing landscape. It is probably the Tuscan venue more rich in history, which boasts remarkable historic visits like the one of Dante Alighieri, father of the Italian language. It was built on ancient Etruscan and Roman ruins that are still visible today. It offers a noble main villa, the typical Tuscan country houses where your guests can stay, astonishing gardens and an amazing pool area.
If you want to jump back in the past and live a real true Tuscan experience, then Borgo Stomennano is definitely a must-visit!
