Lake Como Villas visited on this real elopement by the lake:
Dreaming of eloping in Lake Como and curious to see what a real elopement in this stunning Italian destination would look like? Then check out Lauren and Mike’s day on the lake and read the story of their beautiful Italian elopement that started at Villa Cipressi, only to continue at Villa Monastero just to finish with a boat ride around the lake’s most iconic spots.
Lauren and Mike got to know our work through our blog, as they stumbled across a few of our elopement guides that they had found online. When they got in touch they were enthusiastic about the information they could gather with our articles and they were in love with our pictures, so booking us to be their elopement photographers came very easy to them!
For Lauren & Mike’s day we worked alongside Veronica at Veronica Regis Wedding Planner, who is part of our team and whose work we simply love.
Our lovely couple stayed at Villa Cipressi, where they booked a suite that served simply beautifully for their preparations.
We then went to Villa Monastero for their first look, symbolic ceremony and exchange of vows.
It all took place in a little special spot overlooking the lake, the perfect frame for an elopement in this surreal setting.
We then naturally stayed a little longer to have a first couple session at Villa Monastero - it was impossible not to do so, it’s just a stunner! - as we wanted to convey as much as possible all the outstanding atmosphere the lake with its villas can create.
For their lunch, Lauren and Mike opted to stay in Varenna, a really characteristic village right on the lake shores.
We then had a gentle stroll exploring the village while in the meantime heading to the Royal Victoria dock to start the 2 hour boat ride from there.
When eloping in Lake Como (and this stands true also when it comes to elopements in the Amalfi Coast and in the Cinque Terre), renting a boat and going on a tour of the lake is a must do! There is nothing better than enjoying the lake views while being gently rocked by its waters, enjoying the sun and the breeze.
From Varenna we headed to Bellagio, another must see spot in Lake Como. Here we got off the boat and went for another stroll with a gelato stop, which is again one of those things you really cannot miss while eloping in Italy. Probably the cheapest culinary experiences you can have in our country, yet one of the best!
As the day was slowly coming to an end, we sadly said goodbye to our beautiful couple (honestly, it is hard to say goodbye to such lovely people and to such amazing locations!) and left them to their dinner back in Varenna.
Can we just say, WHAT A DAY?! Everything came absolutely natural to them, Lauren and Mike enjoyed every second of it, they laughed and lived it fully, it was their day, a day made only for the two of them and no one else. This is why we love elopements so much!
After their elopement in Lake Como, they continued their trip across Italy, only to get back to the US and celebrate with their friends and family back home the fantastic and unique union that they so specially sealed in Italy.
Kind words from Lauren and Mike
